Jennifer Hudson's Relatives Murdered In Chicago

This news is kinda messing with me. Im a family man so I know this hurts! Darnell Hudson, mother to Oscar-winner and American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson, was murdered in Chicago today. The other victim: her brother Jason. "Investigators said two shooting victims were discovered inside a home belonging to Hudson's mother just before 3:00 this afternoon," local TV reports. The home is located at 7019 South Yale in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood.

According to the La Times:

It is thought her mother, Darnell Donerson, is one of two victims shot and killed in the home. One of the victims was a woman in her 50s who was shot in the head. The other was a 29-year-old man who was shot in the chest, a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office told the Chicago Tribune. At least one of the victims had defensive wounds, according to police. A neighbor has told TMZ that the other victim was the Oscar-winning actress-singer's brother Jason. According to the Chicago Tribune, a 7-year-old boy named Julian King is missing. "A missing child was possibly abducted from the scene...and may be in the company of William Balfour, a suspect in the double homicide investigation," police said in a statement, adding that the man was "considered armed and dangerous." Police would not say whether he is a relative of the actress. They are also looking for a white 1994 Chevrolet Suburban with Illinois license plate No. X584859. The missing boy may be in the vehicle, which, according to public records, is registered to Jason Hudson, Jennifer Hudson's brother. Jennifer Hudson is not injured, her bodyguard told the Tribune. A cousin who lived nearby discovered the bodies. When the fire department arrived and discovered the unresponsive bodies, police were brought in. Public listings show a Jennifer Hudson and Darnell Donerson at the address. Hudson grew up in Chicago, and her mother's name is Darnell Donerson. Police have taped off the house, which is now a crime scene. A call to Hudson's rep was not immediately returned. In an interview last year with Vogue, Jennifer credited her mother to audition for "American Idol," which launched her career. Jennifer, whose father died when she was a teenager, described herself as very close to her family. In a recent AP interview she said her family, which includes older siblings Julia and Jason, helped keep her grounded.

"My faith in God and my family, they're very realistic and very normal, they're not into the whole limelight kind of thing, so when I go home to Chicago that's just another place that's home," she said. "I stand in line with everybody else, or, when I go home to my mom I'm just Jennifer, (so she says), 'You get up and you take care of your own stuff.' And I love that; I don't like when people tell you everything you want to hear - I want to hear the truth, you know what I mean?"

Police are looking for this man, William Balfour, pictured below!

According to the Illinois Department of Corrections website, Balfour is currently on parole after serving jail time for attempted murder.

Media reports said Hudson was in Florida when she was told of the shootings and was headed back to Chicago. This is so sad! My heart and prayers go out to Jennifer and her whole family! This put a damper in my day....
