This is what he's saying in an email sent to some of our friends over at Politico:
"Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race. OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with.
"I was also unaware of his dislike for John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia (all Blacks that have held high positions of power that many other Blacks have deemed sell-outs or token heads). I guess he also regrets Reagan and Bush making him a four-star and secretary of state and appointing his son to head the FCC. Yes, let's hear it for transformational figures."
It should be noted that Powell gave Sen. John McCain campaign contributions less than a year ago. The one-time secretary of state to President George W. Bush said that his decision was about the campaigns Obama and McCain have been waging, and the candidates they have become. In fact, a lot of registered republicans are switching over this year. Also, many say they think that McCain in many ways seems even more conservative than Bush...
For example, Powell's former long-time chief of staff, Col. Larry Wilkderson, has been very critical of the Bush administration since he and Powell left the cabinet in 2005.
To listen Powell's explaining his HISTORIC decision to back Obama, check out the video below. Regardless of his Powell's race, this is nonetheless a HISTORIC endorsement: A former secretary of state to a republican president is deciding to back the candidacy of the democratic presidential nominee...
This is kind of a big deal! lol
