Nas & Kelis Are Done Indefinitely

Sad, sad news! It seems like, even without being in the public eye, industry couples cannot stay together as one. Nas & Kelis are the latest couple headed for a divorce. “I can confirm that she has filed for divorce, we request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.” a spokesperson for Kelis told VIBE.


Nas and Kelis, who is 7-months pregnant, married in Atlanta on January 8, 2005 after dating two-years prior.

And just to think, I thought they were the perfect couple. Clearly, things were different behind close doors to my surprise. The prominent factor in any relation is trust. It's been said that Nas was a cheater and highly abusive (verbally) toward Kelis, which ultimately ended their relationship.  Why can't all couples be like Jay & Bey?...But then again, whose to say that their relationship is all peachy behind close doors.

ATL Spotted Ciara at the Luckie Lounge Wednesday night celebrating the release of her anticipated 3rd album "Fantasy Ride"... & None other than ATL's finest were in attendence... Asher Roth Apologizes

Asher Roth apologized for the comment he last Friday via his Twitter account, referencing Don Imus’ infamous “Nappy Headed Hoes” line. The Suburban rapper issued this statement:

“The twitter situation was an immature attempt to poke fun at an infamously moronic joke. In doing so, I unconsciously stooped to the level of its originator, making it just as bad, if not worse. Pathetic. Lesson learned - nothing good can come from repeating hateful words, regardless of your intentions. Leaving no context in what was being said and being presented through text (no facial or vocal inflection) the sarcasm of the joke (or lack there of) was not properly perceived and left it purely in bad taste. I immediately apologized for my immaturity but the apologies and original post were deleted by my team in an effort to prevent more people from being offended. Unfortunately, the deletion of these statements led several people to believe that my apology was insincere, which is why I have made the decision to release this statement.”- Asher Roth



Thank God he manned up & took accountability for his actions. It definitely caused a bit of controversy in the hip-hop community.

Throwback Thursday: The Supermodel

Nowadays, the supermodel has become a rarity (sidebar: the above pic is of the world's first supermodel, Janice Dickinson). Although the world is becoming evermore obsessed with the lives of entertainers, it has become increasingly difficult for models to become household names. We even have several television shows devoted to creating and branding successful models: America’s Next Top Model, Make Me a Supermodel, and America’s Most Smartest Model. And don’t get me wrong! These shows have created successful models. But how many of these models are household names? On today’s Throwback Thursday, we will be focusing on the supermodels who became the biggest celebrities of the eighties and nineties without having to become successful actors/singers/talk show host…


The pic above depicts six of the biggest models supermodels that have ever hit the runway: Stephanie Seymour, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, and Claudia Schiffer. Three of which, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington, created their own supermodeling powerhouse: The Trinity.



It all started in 1986 when photographer Steven Meisel shot California teenager Christy Turlington for British Vogue. Within days, Turlington introduced Meisel to a teenage Brittish girl named Naomi Campbell, and he in turn introduced her to a Canadian named Linda Evangelista. “The Trinity” was born, and was soon a sensation on the runways and nightclubs of New York, Paris, & Milan.

The Trinity pushed for better wages for models and for better projects. Evangelista, who was called the founder of the supermodel union, exemplified the following quote:

“We don’t wake up for less than $10,000 a day.”

Will we have another supermodel as big as Linda Evangelista, Stephanie Seymour, or Cindy Crawford? This is what Naomi Campbell has to say about the term supermodel and its pertinence in today’s modeling industry:

“I just think the term is used a little too loosely… After Gisele, I don’t think there’s been one." She is of course referring to Gisele Bündchen, the current highest paid supermodel in the world, and according to Naomi Campbell, the last supermodel in the world.

I looked at my watch, it was 4:30pm on January 21, 2009, the day I had been waiting to come for eight months. It was the day of the deposition in the child support case I had filed against the father of my third son, William Leonard Roberts Jr. also known as the big-time rapper (not the notorious drug dealer, don’t get them confused) Rick Ross.
I had started this battle against William 17 months earlier after our tumultuous four-year relationship filled with passion and pain. My lawyer Ileana M. Almeida had spent the last eight months trying to get Will’s lawyer Allan Zamren to make Will do the deposition for the case. They’d canceled two times already so I was surprised that William had finally showed up and was glad we were gonna to get things going. Ever since he’d become a celebrity, Will had been a different person. That mixed with his touring and promotions schedule and the life of a rap star is what made it so hard for anything in the child support case to move forward. His attitude also made things difficult.

Why You All In My Grill?!?

I'm best known for my elusive style and my New York City smile. Both hard to define yet impossible to ignore. Many believe I've had that Hollywood ish done to my mouth-- but I simply call it perfection. I was blessed to have been born with a mouth most people pay for these days. Blame my creator!

Most of us get up in the morning, brush our teeth, and don't see the toothbrush til later that night--not good! Today I'm inspired to write a blog in the lifestyle section because I recently went to the dentist and came back with good reviews. I want to share & inspire others by giving ways of building better tooth care. Brushing, as well as flossing daily & properly, is one way of getting there. Using toothpastes and mouthwashes solely is not going to cut it!! It's dentist recommended, to brush at least 3 times a day - I try to brush after each meal (candy bars included)-If you can't brush your teeth after each meal, rinse with water or mouthwash...or simply chew on sugarless chewing gum. Flossing is just as important. Tho brushing is important, it won't remove the plaque and particles of food between your teeth and under the gumline as flossing does. The more you stimulate the gums, the less likely you are to have gum disease, fyi.

Now is not the time to trivialize the importance of your mouth. I hate talking to someone with bad breath, I'm unable to hold a conversation after that...and I like to talk, so you already know! Plaque on the teeth isn't cute either--I take pride in my teeth and so should you. Most people, when introduced for the first time, tent to look at a person's clothes and/or shoes--not I. I aim right for that grill. It's the first and last thing I remember

I can't promise you with a mouth piece as well as mine, but I can recommend ways to building better tooth care:

• See your dentist for dental checkups/cleanings 2 times a year, every 3 months if your teeth are not in good, to moderate condition.
  

• When you brush, take the bristles of your toothbrush & move in a circular motion, followed by topping the bristles on the edge of your gums and brushing in a downward position - this helps get the remaining bacteria left behind in your mouth, in which brushing or flossing didn't pick up.
  

• Floss Daily--curve the floss around the edge of your tooth and slide it up and down the side of each tooth. Also floss the back sides of your back teeth. Very important!

• Use a ACT fluoride rinse EVERY night before you go to bed and don't eat or drink afterwards. ACT is clinically proven to strengthen teeth, prevent tooth decay and prevent cavities.

I'm no dentist, but I know what it takes to keep that grill intact.

Fans of "The Baddest Chick In the Game" became a little more "Obsessed" this weekend. Obsessed(Beyonce, Idris Elba) racked in $28.5 million on it's opening weekend, beating out The Soloist(Jaime Foxx, Robert Downing Jr.) by a landslide which earned a disappointing 9.7 million. Obsessed bought in 10 million more than analysts projected, hushing the critics who say Beyonce couldn't carry her weight in a feature film. “This is the first film where she didn’t perform musically,” says Rory Bruer, Sony’s head of distribution. “And what a way to start. I think she showing there isn’t much she can’t do.”

While many thought Kim Kardashian dyed her brown colored traces this weekend to a more Beyonce-like blonde, the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star confirms Monday morning that it's just a "wig."

It’s a wig! Did I have you fooled? I did a fabulous photo shoot this weekend and they put this hair piece on! I haven’t taken it off since, because I’m really loving the look. I’ve been wearing it around New York and everyone thought it was my real hair! It’s making me want to dye my hair and maybe go lighter for the summer. What do you think? Ciara Prepares To Finally Push That Fantasy Ride Out Of The Garage

And that Fantasy Ride has definitely been in the garage for a very long time. If I recall correctly, her third album was supposed to be released in the Summer of 2008. Although it's been a while, things are finally looking to come together for the DIVA! Fantasy Ride will be out in one week, May 5th. Her third single, "Love Sex Magic" just made it into the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, her video is running all of the countdowns, and I'm starting to see some good promo too.

PressPlay below to watch the first installment of Ciara's 'webisode' on YouTube. The best part of the video is the fact that she actually shows you exactly how she has grown as an artist and an individual.

She introduces us to her vocal coach (and actually lets us watch as she works with her), sings an excerpt from "Like A Surgeon", and does some dancing with her choreographer. Also, you'll get to meet some of her close childhood friends in ATL.

I can truly say that she has come a long way. Make sure to cop Ciara's Fantasy Ride when it hits stores on May 5th.

R.I.P: Beatrice "Bea" Arthur (May 13, 1922 - April 25, 2009)

Legendary actress Bea Arthur passed away on Saturday April 25, 2009 at her home in Los Angeles, CA. Arthur is probably most known by younger generations as the hilarious Dorothy from the Golden Girls. However, she actually had a career that spanned for almost seventy years.

I'm definitely going to miss seeing this woman on television. Bea Arthur came out when all entertainers could sing, dance, and act. Even as a comedienne and a Broadway star, she found success. Her most recent critical acclaim came in 2002 when she returned to the stage starring in Bea Arthur on Broadway: Just Between Friends, a collection of stories and songs (with musician Billy Goldenberg) based on her life and career. The show was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event.

She will definitely be missed

Miss California 2003 To Miss California 2009: Don't Blame The Bible For You Ignorance

Nicole Lamarche, Miss California 2003 and now an ordained minister at Cotuit Federated Church in Cotuit, Mass, is speaking out against the current Miss California's stance against gay marriage, which she expressed in the Miss U.S.A. Pageant's Q&A portion of the competition.

She says:

"As a pastor and a former Miss California, I am often asked to interpret what the Word of God has to say on a particular subject. I am quite confident that God prefers that we human beings stick to speaking for ourselves. And yet there are occasions when God’s Word is used as a weapon, and I feel compelled to speak.

In the past few days, much has been made of the words of Miss California USA, Carrie Prejean. She stated that marriage is between a man and a woman. I write not in response to her opinion, but rather about her comments that followed: that the Bible condones her words. She said, 'It's not about being politically correct, it's about being biblically correct.' While this sentiment is shared by many who seek to condemn gay people and gay marriage, citing pieces of the Bible to further one’s own prejudice fails to meet the Bible on its own terms.

Most people seeking to condemn gay people point to the Book of Leviticus, where we read that men lying with men is an abomination. However, we rarely hear of other verses found in the book of Leviticus that are equally challenging. For example, Leviticus also tells us that eating shrimp and lobster is an abomination. And that a person should not wear material woven of two kinds of material—an impossible mandate for a pageant contestant!

In Paul’s letter to the community in Corinth we read, ‘For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church….’ And yet these words have not prevented Christian denominations from ordaining women, such as myself. Sadly, the Bible has been used to further prejudice throughout history. We have used it to permit ourselves to enslave people; to conquer and kill; and to denigrate the earth.

The truth is that it is difficult to know for sure the intentions of the biblical authors, but we do know something about God. Those of us who know God through Jesus of Nazareth know that he went to great lengths to express God’s love to people who were labeled as outcasts. He spent time with children, prostitutes, and lepers, all of whom were labeled as outside of the grasp of the Holy. As we continue to seek God’s vision for us as a nation grounded in a love for justice, I pray that we might move closer to the cause of grace.”

Thanks to Bossip.com & their "highly placed source", it's being noted that the 24-year-old Virginia native, Trey Songz has his eyes set on former 3LW star Adrienne Bailon, and has been trying to get at her via Twitter. Trey Songz apparently has had a huge crush on the former Cheetah Girls member Adrienne Bailon for quite some time now.

This week on his official Twitter page, Trey Songz admitted to having a crush on Adrienne since 2003.

"You remember meeting me before I got on? Like 03' In @troytaylor86 basement, Tneck NJ. I was secretly in luv with u," Trey wrote.

The source reports that Trey sends Adrienne countless direct messages like, “She’s so beautiful” & "f***ing gorgeous" just about everyday. The former Cheetah Girls member hasn't given into any of Trey's advances, she simply responds with "thank you" or a : ) (smile)

I thought Trey Songz was in a relationship with a dancer who he met on tour name Helen?....Maybe I missed the break-up, I don't know...But I know Adrienne is still dating Kim Kardashian's younger brother Robert Kardashian.

Obsessed Movie Premiere In NYC

The premiere for the fatal attraction triller- Obsessed was held Thursday night in NYC. Momma Knowles, Janice Combs, Kim Kardashian, Chanel Iman, Kevin Liles, Russell Simmons, Anthony Anderson, Naturi Naughton, and Bey's co-star Idris Elba all were on hand for last night's red carpet. The event was held at the School of Visual Arts, hosted by the Cinema Society and MCM.

Remember last summer the fashion trendsetter spoke with British Vogue and told them that his tattoos no longer fit in his "lifestyle".... and that he was going to try a new tattoo removal procedure to get rid of them?!? Well here is a photo of Skateboard P in the first procedure of the surgery. This procedure involves applying replicated skin over old body art.

I heard they grow the skin for you & they sew it on you...
