Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson got engaged this weekend to her boyfriend, David Otunga.
The 'Dreamgirls' star accepted the proposal of Otunga, known as "Punk" while a contestant on Vh1's 'I Love New York 2,' who presented her with a Neil Lane diamond ring on her 27th birthday on Sept. 12.

Prior to her relationship with the reality TV star, the 'American Idol' finalist had been in a long-term relationship with her childhood sweetheart, custodian James Payton.
She also stars in 'The Secret Life of Bees' opposite Queen Latifah, Dakota Fanning, Alicia Keys and Sophie Okonedo. That movie opens on Oct. 17.

Ya Boy Punk is an Ivey League educated lawyer. Homeboy was already a self made man before he even got on the I <3 NY show. That was just for kicks and giggles for him. He does not need a chick for his meal ticket. I am so happy that they have found each other. They make a cute couple and it's sweet that they have the same home town. I hope they can make it work through all the hate and public attention all up in their Kool Aid(lol).
